Help! I’ve Lost My Style—Here’s How I Got It Back (and You Can Too)

A few years ago, I hit a style crisis of my own!

My body-shape had changed after having my son but even more noticeably it started to change when I reached my late 40s, something I wasn’t expecting, something no one had warned me about and something (like so many of my clients) that knocked my self-confidence - what caused this body-shape change? Peri-menopause. That coupled with the fact that I wasn’t working in London (as an Operations Director) in that corporate world anymore, and suddenly my wardrobe felt like a stranger’s clothes. I remember standing in front of my closet thinking, “How on earth do I own all these clothes and still have nothing to wear?”— sound familiar? I’m sure it does, I know many of my clients say a similar thing to me.

However, we need to remember that life shifts, bodies evolve, and careers change. So, let’s embrace this change, celebrate it, and celebrate getting older and all the wisdom and freedom that this brings. Let me help you to rediscover your style too….

The good news? Finding your style AGAIN doesn’t mean starting from scratch.

Here are 5 steps to get you started today:

Step 1: Take Inventory of What You Actually Wear

Notice which pieces you reach for on repeat. For me, it was soft knits and comfy trousers I hadn’t given much thought to—but they made me feel like me. Your everyday favorites are breadcrumbs leading you toward your true style. Forget the aspirational “someday” clothes—you know, the jeans that will fit after the juice cleanse. Focus on what feels good right now.

Step 2: Build a Mood Board for You, Not Instagram

Scroll less, save more. Grab screenshots, Pinterest pins, even magazine clippings—anything that makes you think, “Ooh, I’d wear that.” Then step back and look for patterns. Are you drawn to neutrals or brights? Clean lines or flowy silhouettes? After my own wardrobe reset, I realized I loved simple, modern, comfortable pieces with a touch of personality—and spotting patterns like that is like style therapy.

Step 3: Edit Out the “Not Me” Pieces

Here’s where the magic happens—open those closet doors and be brutally honest. If something feels scratchy, dated, doesn’t fit any longer, or just not you, thank it for its service and let it go. Hanging onto clothes that make you feel blah only adds noise to your style search. If the idea of doing this alone feels overwhelming, that’s exactly what my Wardrobe Edit service is for. Together, we’ll streamline your closet so getting dressed feels exciting again.

Step 4: Organize What’s Left

Once you’ve let go of the misfits, organize your wardrobe so you can actually see the pieces you love. Grouping by color or category works wonders—suddenly your clothes look like a little boutique instead of a jumble. It makes getting dressed easier and shows you exactly what’s missing (hello, perfect white blouse).

Step 5: Fill the Gaps Slowly (and Smartly)

Now that you’ve got clarity, shop intentionally. One well-chosen piece can pull ten old items back into rotation. Style isn’t about owning more clothes; it’s about having the right ones that mix, match, and make you feel put-together without overthinking.
