Chelsea Flower Show, What Will You Be Wearing?

Posted on 5/6/2017 by SuperUser Account in Chelsea Flower Show fashion inspiration Hobbs

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is the pinnacle of the horticultural calendar and each year inspires millions by showcasing the best in gardening. This year it's running from 23rd - 27th May 2017. Deciding what to wear to such an event can be a tricky affair... Will it rain? What comfortable shoes do I have? Will it be sweltering hot?

So, what should you wear? The Chelsea Flower Show is not an event to be wearing a hat or fascinator to (- as you would to a wedding or Ascot) but it's still, however, an opportunity to get dressed up and it's advisable to make an effort and to give some thought to your outfit in advance of the day.

Very much in-fashion this year are 'floral' patterns and The Flower Show seems like THE perfect opportunity to embrace this trend!  My first outfit inspiration focuses around a beautiful khaki floral dress from Hobbs, priced at £140.  This outfit is perfect for anyone with a warm skin tone (Spring and Autumn season of colours i.e. those with a yellow undertone to their skin).  For a more informal look opt for the accessories on the left and for a smarter look those on the right.

For those with a cool skin tone (Summer and Winter season of colours i.e. those with a blue undertone to your skin) I have again chosen an item of clothing from Hobbs: the beautiful Lottie Jumpsuit in navy black with a very subtle butterfly print.  Jumpsuits are also very much in fashion at the moment and are an item of clothing that are a firm favourite of mine, as they are so versatile!  Again for a more casual look opt for the accessories on the left or for a more formal look those on the right.

A few further points to consider:

*  Don't wear stilettos, due to the amount of walking to be done to visit all of the different exhibits.  Comfy shoes are a must!  You may even wish to consider wearing a smart pair of trainers for complete practicality.
*  Forego the umbrella (due to the crowds) and instead take a fold away, waterproof mac
*  Include a travel-sized sun tan lotion in your bag and, if the weather is hot, ensure that you reapply your lotion often (and / or include the packable trilby hat listed above)
*  Remember your camera and maybe a small note book to record the names of those plants that will be just perfect for your garden

For further inspiration about the event take a look at The Chelsea Flower Show: 100 Years in Pictures - this is an absolute delight and for fashion inspiration from last year's event take a look at the images on The Telegraph's website.

If you attend the event please do send me a photo of your 'outfit of the day', I would love to see what you wear!
